Sugar Creek Packing Co., a food company serving retail and wholesale markets, will invest $28.5 million to open a manufacturing operation in Cambridge City, Indiana, where the firm estimates it will create 400 jobs in the next four years.

Sugar Creek plans to invest $28.5 million to expand and refurbish the 77,000 square-foot former Really Cool Foods production facility at the Indiana Gateway Industrial Park. Renovations of the facility, which is expected to be operational in late 2013, will include additional refrigeration space and the enhancement of utilities capabilities. Although the product portfolio for the plant has not been determined, the company expects to focus on the "ready to eat" sales category, Indiana Economic Development said.

"Indiana's business climate continues to lead the country and we are pleased to welcome another national leader to the Hoosier State," said Governor Mitch Daniels. "With our well-trained work force and low tax and regulation policies, Sugar Creek will have every chance for success and we are happy to welcome them to Indiana."

Headquartered in Washington Court House, Ohio, Sugar Creek began as a bacon company in 1966 and has since grown into a global manufacturer operating five facilities in Ohio and Kansas. Today Sugar Creek is a diversified, family-owned food company that provides raw and fully cooked products for a variety of domestic and international customers, economic development officials said.

ConAgra Completes Acquisition of Odom's Tennessee Pride

Picks up producer of frozen breakfast, snack-sized sandwiches, appetizers

CSP Daily News | May 15, 2012

MADISON, Tenn.-- Odom's Tennessee Pride Sausage Inc. today announced that it has successfully completed its sale to ConAgra Foods Inc. The transaction was originally announced on April 17, 2012.

"Our family has owned Odom's Tennessee Pride since 1943, and over the course of three generations, we built a business alongside thousands of loyal employees and teammates that we remain immensely proud of," Larry Odom said. "From the very beginning, our goal has always been to manufacture products of the highest quality and to set a standard for excellence in our industry. Most importantly, we want to thank our dedicated and loyal workforce, without whom we could never have achieved this significant milestone. Moving forward, we are excited to be a part of the ConAgra Foods family of leading brands."

The dealt includes facilities in Little Rock, Ark., and Dickson, Tenn., and its headquarters office in Madison, Tenn. Odom's Tennessee Pride has approximately 750 employees, annual revenue in excess of $190 million, and is the second largest U.S. producer of frozen breakfast sandwiches. The company also offers a variety of snack-sized sandwich offerings and cooked appetizers.

Fitting with the company's strategy of expanding into high-growth adjacencies, the acquisition of Odom's Tennessee Pride would build ConAgra Foods' capabilities in frozen breakfasts, a key adjacency to its frozen meals business.

"The acquisition of Odom's Tennessee Pride will build on our strong position in frozen meals and allow us to leverage our existing innovation, marketing and distribution abilities," said Gary Rodkin, chief executive officer of ConAgra Foods. "We are excited to develop our portfolio in the growing breakfast category."

The proposed acquisition would be the third in the last year for ConAgra Foods, following the acquisitions of National Pretzel Company and Del Monte Canada.

Omaha, Neb.-based ConAgra is one of North America's leading food companies. Brands include Banquet, Chef Boyardee, Egg Beaters, Hebrew National, Hunt's, Marie Callender's, Orville Redenbacher's, PAM, Peter Pan, Reddi-wip, Slim Jim, Snack Pack and more in grocery, convenience, mass merchandise and club stores.

Infrabaker discovered low-scale markets PDF Print E-mail

On the demand of several smaller companies who wants to start with infrared technologies, Infrabaker has started the development of a smaller type of infrared cooker.

The result is our new baby Infrabaker 9.1.7. This equipment has a heated length of 1m and a width of 900 mm. It is particularly suitable for melting cheese or other products. Also companies who need a small scale infrared cooking device can use this Infrabaker 9.1.7 to their advantage.

This Infrabaker can be combined as several stand alone cookers to 1 whole line with a manual or automatic flipstation between them.

A detailed description will be available at short notice.

Please come back if you want to get to know this equipment.

Infrabaker International with its production facilities at Overpelt (B) specialises in the development and production of infrared applications for the food processing industry.

Therefore, the Infrabaker® cooker is found at the production facility of several leading companies worldwide. Their modular system is designed to cook and/or put colour on a wide range of food products (bacon, chicken fillets, patties, fish, dough, cake, vegetables,…) without requiring any other medium such as cooking oil, hot air, steam or thermal oil.

High yields, optimal use of energy, an oil-free cooking process, high flexibility and a constant product quality are just a few of the many benefits of the infrared technique, you can already make today tomorrows product.

When they decided to develop the modular Infrabaker®, many of the already used components got their place in the new set up. This was based on the good experience with and worldwide availability of the components. After the installation of the first modular Infrabaker® cookers, feedback led to a number of important improvements.

Also the choice of some key components e.g. Siemens controls and Lenze drives were reconsidered based on the fact that in some markets potential customers were more familiar with e.g. Allen Bradley controls and SEW drives. And although the original choice was based on valid arguments now to service customers even better they can chose either Siemens or Allen-Bradley controls and/or between SEW or Lenze drives.
